Carl Sage is a self-described theatrical generalist, with primary areas of emphasis being scenic design, technical direction, and properties. His production history runs the gamut from dance design – including a remount of the classic José Limón piece "The Traitor" in 2019 at University of Florida – to classic and modern musicals (Guys & Dolls, Jekyll & Hyde), plays (Rumors, Silent Sky, Pride and Prejudice) and operas (Amahl and the Night Visitors, The Pirates of Penzance).
Additional areas of special study and interest include ancient Greek theatre, Kabuki theatre and Bunraku, sustainable design, and the variations in color description and perception found between cultures.
